Walk 1 - Wincle
Start: The Ship Inn, Wincle (SJ962653)
Length: 8.5 miles
Duration: 4 – 4.5 hours
From the Ship Inn walk up the road to ascend a flight of stairs on the right (public footpath sign). At the top of the steps cross a drive to a pedestrian gate and head slightly left across a field following waymarkers to a stile on the far side leading into a belt of trees. Cross the stile and follow the path down over a small stream (Hog Clough) and up the other side over another stile into a field. Keep to the left (alongside a dry stone wall) following a waymarker to Bartomley Farm.
Walk 2 - Danebridge and Whitelee
Start: The Cheshire side of the Dane Bridge
Length: 2 miles
Duration: 45 minutes
Walk towards Danebridge Fisheries, past Tolls Farm and over a cattle grid. Follow this track alongside the river Dane, past a fishing lake on your right. At Pingle Cottage take the footbridge adjacent to the river and follow this path until you reach a small gate (it can be muddy here).Follow the footpath through the meadow, bearing right at the end through the gate into another meadow. Follow this until you reach the weir. Leave the river at this point and climb up to the right, over a small footbridge beside a dry-stone wall. Climb over the stone stile and up the hill, with trees on your right, towards a house (Whitelee Farm). Climb over the stile next to Whitelee Farm and follow the signed footpath through the yard.
Continue along the track (looking out for red deer that often graze in the trees where the track descends). Continue along this lane (approximately 0.5 mile) passing Bagstones and Bagstones Farm. When you meet the road turn right, descending the hill, past the Ship Inn and back down to where you started at the Dane Bridge.
